A cat may turn into popular cat just after one photo, the way it happened to Grumpy Cat, but also popularity may come within several months.
3 months ago I tried to give a detailed answer on every Simba’s photo comment, at that time we had about 3-7 comments. Not so much time passed, but the situation has changed. Now Simba has 2 TV stories and an article on Belarusian Portal TUT.BY with monthly audience of more than 2 million people made about her. People write comments not only in Instagram, but also Facebook and Simba’s blog, it takes much time, so we answer questions first of all.
I gathered this information and I’m glad to share this good news with you!

The story of a Minsk popular cat which has gained more than 12 thousand fans all over the world within 3 months
Interview for Belarusian Internet Portal TUT.BY
Animals in social networks are gaining increasing popularity. The cat named Simba lives in Minsk. Within 3 months she gained 12 thousand fans all over the world and about 15 portraits of artists from different countries. TUT.BY talked to the owners of the popular Belarusian cat.
The majority of Simba’s fans are from the United States, Japan, Britain, Italy and Russia. The portraits of the cat, which the owners received from artists of different countries, came as a surprise. There are about 15 of them so far.
The owners of the popular cat, Nastya and Andrei confess that they wanted to get a dog at first. The choice fell on the Akita Inu (dog breed, raised in Japan -. TUT.BY). Having thought it over, they came to the conclusion that a dog would not be able to live in the apartment. So they decided that neither the animal nor them deserve to be tortured. That’s how a Bengal cat Simba appeared in their family. She is called a home copy of a leopard. She was bought from a fancier from Moscow, which makes her a lady with a pet passport.
– We chose Simba as she was the most active cat: all kittens were calm, except for her. She was running, jumping, three of us were trying to catch her for ten minutes or so.
The name was chosen for a reason. Anastasia has wanted a cat named Simba for a long time- this was the name of the main character of the cartoon “The Lion King.”
– We decided that this name suits a she-cat as well, – says Andrei. – Despite the fact that in the info on the Instagram it is mentioned that the popular cat is a “she”, many people use the masculine gender.
The idea to create an account for the pet crossed her owners’ minds spontaneously. When they got Simba, they began taking pictures of her, and a question arose: why not to create an account? After all, the cat is really beautiful. Besides, she likes to be photographed. The main trick is to wait, and she will do all the rest.
The owners hold off on putting clothes on the cat, like it’s fashionable in the West nowadays – Simba does not like it, and they don’t want to force her.
The popularity of the cat began to grow after the video where she jumps on the couch. It was after this video that people began to subscribe actively.
Now Simba is 8 months. She is active and cheerful. She focuses on a person.
– While some cats don’t even blink an eye when their owners return home, our Simba sweeps all before herself – Anastasia shares details. – We are lucky to have a popular cat with dog’s habits. If you throw her a toy, she will run after it and will bring it back as if saying “throw some more”. We are planning to buy her a Cat wheel – the wheel for cats, which replaces running in the street.
Here is what Andrei says about the success of Simba’s account:
– The recipe for success on the Instagram is good pictures and feedback from users. It is also important to have connections with more famous accounts of other animals. For example, through the comments to my photos, I began communicating with the account of three cats from Luxembourg, which have more than 50 thousand subscribers. After a month of communication, I suggested making a joint collage. In the end, we left the collage as an idea for our future shots, but Simba became the cat Baloo’s friend in the account of the latter one, and I got a good influx of subscribers. The growth of the account is largely based on friendship and communication.
The popular cat’s personal blog cat has been already started. It is in the English language, though. In a few weeks the article “52 Tips on how to take pictures of your pets using the example of Simba’s photos” is coming out. It will be interesting for those who love taking pictures. At the moment there is an article on how 15 artists from different countries painted the cat Simba.
